讲座摘要:

This talk aims to create a bridge between social science concepts such as Cycling Cities and Mobility Justice on one hand and transportation engineering and construction management perspectives on the other hand –to develop future thinking on safer as well as more sustainable and just cities. Specifically, this talk explores how cycling and micromobility, together with a new understanding of electric mobility can lead to safer as well as more sustainable and just cities. Micromobility incorporates a wide range of mobilities that are human- or motor-powered or a combination, often involving (very) light electric vehicles. For example, traditional and electric bicycles, stand-up and sit-down e-scooters, cargo-bikes and three-wheelers.The integration of micromobility with public transport is central in this move towards making our cities safer and more sustainable. For example, to provide safe access and parking for micromobility – including cycling - at electric bus and (light) rail services as well as at residents’ homes, linking up transportation and urban construction. This then establishes a new vision of electric mobility that is focussed on the combination of micromobility and public transport, superseding the current focus on electric cars. A vision that enables safer as well as more sustainable and just cities.

嘉宾简介:

Dr. Frauke Behrendt is Associate Professor in Transitions to Sustainable Mobility at the Technology, Innovation and Society Group at the Eindhoven University of Technology.
